Valley Defensive Back Signs With Oregon

Daryle Smith, an All-Western State Conference defensive back from Valley College, Tuesday signed a letter of intent with Oregon.

Smith (6 feet, 1 inch, 175 pounds) chose Oregon over Oregon State, Arizona, Alabama and Michigan State.

“They run a lot of the same coverages we ran at L. A. Valley,” said Smith, a sophomore who attended Taft High. “I asked myself, ‘Would I go there if I didn’t play football?’ Oregon is where I was most comfortable.”
