An armored car guard was in critical condition after being shot during a robbery outside a Berkeley bank, police said. Two robbers fled south toward Oakland after Wells Fargo Bank robbery, escaping with a bag containing an unknown amount of money, police said. A Loomis Armored Inc. dispatcher said the guard underwent surgery at an area hospital and was in critical condition. He was not immediately identified. The second guard was not injured. The Loomis truck had just pulled up to the bank at College and Ashby streets.
