The driver of the car, Deborah A. Casey, 25, of La Palma was not injured. The case will be turned over to the Orange County district attorney’s office to determine whether charges are warranted.

The accident occurred at 2:18 p.m. Tuesday in a yellow crosswalk on Crescent Avenue at San Marino Drive. Casey told police that she had not seen the pedestrians. She was questioned at the scene and released without a citation, pending an investigation. Witnesses said that other cars had stopped while the Dargans crossed the street and that the pedestrians had almost made it across when they were hit.

An autopsy on Mary Dargan is scheduled today.
