The Preps : Notes : Three County Linemen Say They’ll Attend USC

Three Orange County linemen have made verbal commitments to attend USC.

Darren Gallaway, 6-foot 4-inch, 230-pound defensive tackle at Servite; Brian Turk, 6-4, 265-pound center at Mater Dei; and Jason Uhl, 6-4, 240-pound defensive tackle at Mater Dei, say they will sign national letters of intent with the Trojans.

The first day a high school football player can sign a national letter of intent with a 4-year college is Feb. 8.

Tom Vitello, Servite High School athletic director, announced the school is accepting applications for varsity football coach. The application period will remain open until Jan. 27.

Jerry Person, who led Servite to a 9-3 record as an interim coach, said he would apply for the position. Anyone interested in the job can call Vitello at 774-4350.
