Monday marks the celebration of Martin Luther King Day. The 60th anniversary of his birth is Sunday.

Closed: All government offices, courts, banks, schools, libraries and post offices.

Open: Stock and commodity exchanges and many businesses. RTD buses will follow daily schedules.

The second annual celebration for the I Have a Dream Foundation takes place today at 6 p.m. in the auditorium at Audubon Junior High School, 4120 11th Ave. It will feature the one-act play, “Freedom Comes of Age.”

The Baha’i community presents “Martin Luther King: A Man of Peace,” a program featuring speakers and entertainment Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Los Angeles Baha’i Center, 5755 Rodeo Road.

The fourth annual Kingdom Day Parade on Monday begins at 11 a.m. The route travels east along Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, beginning at Crenshaw Boulevard and ending at Exposition Park.

Student organizations of the Claremont Colleges will sponsor a commemorative ceremony Monday at noon in the McKenna Auditorium on the Claremont McKenna College campus in Claremont.

The third annual King Day drive for food and clothing for the homeless will take place Monday when hundreds of volunteers will go door to door asking for donations that will be picked up later in the day. Sponsored by the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, SANE/FREEZE and the L.A. Homeless Healthcare Project, volunteers will gather at 11:30 a.m. at Holman Methodist Church, 3320 W. Adams Blvd.; Bethel Lutheran Church, 700 E. 70th St., Long Beach, and the Church in Ocean Park, 235 Hill St., Santa Monica.
