MEN’S BASKETBALL
San Diego State reserve guard Rodney Jones, who sprained his left foot and ankle against Utah Saturday, is expected to miss the Aztecs’ home games this week against Texas El Paso and New Mexico, trainer Brian Barry said.
Jones is averaging 3.1 points and 8.6 minutes per game.
Senior forward Sam Johnson, also bothered by a sprained left ankle, is probable for Thursday’s game against UTEP, Barry said.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
With two victories last week against San Jose State and Fresno State, undefeated San Diego State improved three places to No. 12 in the Associated Press top 20 poll. SDSU (14-0, 5-0 in the Big West), No. 1 Auburn (15-0) and unranked La Salle (14-0) are the only remaining unbeaten teams in Division I.
