MEN’S BASKETBALL

Five players scored double figures as Christian Heritage College withstood a late rally to defeat Fresno Pacific, 93-84, at Granite Hills High School.

The victory ended a 4-game winning streak for Fresno Pacific (12-5). Christian Heritage (16-3) has won 10 consecutive games at home.

Christian Heritage led by 13 with 8 minutes remaining, but Brad Soucie was ejected for a flagrant foul with 5:11 left and Will Cunningham, the team’s leading rebounder, fouled out with 2:13 left.

Fresno Pacific pulled within 88-84 with 1:38 remaining but Bill Soucie scored on a layup and made a subsequent free throw to give the Hawks a 91-84 lead with 15 seconds left.

MEN’S VOLLEYBALL

Cal State Long Beach rolled to a 15-8, 15-8, 15-3 victory over host UC San Diego in a nonconference men’s volleyball match at UCSD.

Jeff Babcock and Nate Brown had 10 kills each for UCSD (0-3).

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

With 3 seconds remaining, the University of San Diego’s Julie Lemery grabbed a rebound from a missed shot by the University of San Francisco, enabling USD to hold on for a 63-61 West Coast Athletic Conference victory at USD.

Candida Echeverria scored 14 points and Rochelle Lightner added 12 for the Toreras, who broke a 3-game losing streak and improved to 5-8, 1-2 in the WCAC. San Francisco is 5-11 and 1-2.

Yvonne Sanchez scored 17 points but U.S. International lost to host Utah, 67-64, in a nonconference game.

It was the first game for USIU since the team learned the program would be dropped at the end of the season.

Vanessa Johnson added 16 points and Sonya Carter 13 for USIU (4-13).
