In Brief : Notre Dame’s Ellery Held Ineligible
Notre Dame forward Kevin Ellery has been declared academically ineligible and will miss the rest of the basketball season, the university said Sunday.
Notre Dame eligibility rules require athletes to maintain a 2.0 grade point average each semester to play the following semester.
Ellery, a 6-foot-5, 225-pound sophomore from Springfield, Ky., averaged 5.9 points and 2.8 rebounds playing off the bench this season in eight games. His season high was 15 points in an 81-65 victory over Kentucky. Ellery plans to remain in school and could regain eligibility next fall, the university said.
