College Roundup : Cal State Fullerton Women Edge SDSU
Gena Miller scored 24 points and had 11 rebounds to lead Cal State Fullerton past San Diego State, 71-65, in a Big West Conference women’s basketball game Monday at San Diego.
Kathy Werth added 16 points and 11 rebounds for Fullerton (19-6 overall, 11-5 in conference play). San Diego State (21-5, 12-5) played without leading scorer Chana Perry, who has an injured Achilles’ tendon.
Julie Evans’ 16 points led San Diego State.
In nonconference baseball:
Southern California College 4, Sonoma State 3 (12 innings)--A single by SCC’s Alex Andrade scored Kendall Kaspar from third base for the winning run in the bottom of the 12th inning. Phil Bejarano (1-0) got the victory for SCC (5-3). Craig Hunt (0-1) took the loss for Sonoma State.
In nonconference men’s tennis:
Chapman 6, BYU Hawaii 3--Allen Juinio and Dave Seline won at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, respectively, and combined to win No. 2 doubles to lead host Chapman (2-2).
