Boys and Girls All-Star High School Basketball Teams to Be Announced
The 1989 Times All-San Gabriel Valley boys and girls basketball teams will be announced in next Thursday’s edition of the San Gabriel Valley section.
The 10-player squads were selected by sportswriters based on a poll of coaches and discussions with scouts. Players will be honored at a breakfast and awards ceremony at 9 a.m. April 2 at the Anaheim Hilton, 777 Convention Way.
All-stars from 12 Times circulation areas will be honored at the ceremony.
Featured speaker will be George Yardley, an All-American basketball player at Stanford who starred in the National Basketball Assn. Yardley was the first player in NBA history to score more than 2,000 points in a season.
