Waiting for Travolta

Meanwhile, Travolta’s “The Tender”--which he made after “The Experts”--has “taken longer than anticipated to shoot and edit,” said director Robert Harmon, who is still cutting the film, about a widower (Travolta) whose life changes after his daughter finds an injured dog.
“The key word that sums up our problems is dog ,” moaned Harmon, who said that the film’s Doberman pinscher star didn’t always hit its marks. “In the end, one week of second-unit photography became five. And the editing, well . . . when someone watches a scene and says, ‘Gee, that dog is great,’ I always feel like saying ‘yes, and it only took 100 takes.’ ”
“The Tender” is due out in the fall. In the meantime, Travolta goes undercover in Miami’s crack trade in “Chain of Gold,” which shoots in May, with Krane again producing.
