NCAA Division II Tournament : UC Riverside Reaches Semifinals
UC Riverside reached the semifinals of the National Collegiate Athletic Assn.’s Division II basketball tournament Thursday night with a comeback victory over Millersville of Pennsylvania at Springfield, Mass., 92-86.
Millersville led, 80-75, with 4 minutes 50 seconds left, but Riverside rallied and, with consecutive three-point baskets by Maurice Pullum and Mike Ritter, took an 83-82 lead that it never gave up.
Millersville’s Tommy Gaines led all scorers with 28 points. Jimmy Shorters was Riverside’s top scorer with 19 points. Pullum and Chris Jackson added 17 each.
Riverside (28-4) will play Southeast Missouri State (26-5) tonight. Southeast Missouri State beat Wisconsin Milwaukee, 93-84.
