Community College Roundup : Cypress Wins, 2-1, in Softball

Teresa Anderson had an RBI double and Kerry Callahan had a sacrifice fly as Cypress College scored two runs in the third inning en route to a 2-1 victory over San Bernardino Valley in a nonconference softball game at Cypress Monday.
Rose Ferrante opened the Cypress third with a double and scored on Anderson’s double. Anderson moved to third on a single by Val Sucatre and scored on the sacrifice fly. Ferrante had two hits and is hitting .404. Colleen Moore (15-5) allowed three hits for Cypress (22-8).
In other nonconference softball:
Saddleback 3, Cerritos 2--Kelly Mezo had a sacrifice fly to score Marsha Garcia to break a 2-2 tie in the sixth. Denise Kuhns (10-5) picked up the victory for visiting Saddleback (16-8).
In Orange Empire Conference golf:
San Diego City 396, Orange Coast 398--Frank Pantoji of Orange Coast shot a par 71, but OCC shot its highest team score all season in the loss at Coronado County Club in San Diego.
