Prep Roundup : Hundeby Wins 2 Races for Woodbridge
Chad Hundeby won two races as Woodbridge High School defeated Costa Mesa, 112-34, Wednesday in a Pacific Coast League swim meet at Heritage Park in Irvine.
Hundeby, who last week won the 1,000-yard freestyle in the U.S. national short course meet, won the 100 freestyle (48.98 seconds) and 200 individual medley (2:12.69) Wednesday. Hundeby’s performance in the 100 freestyle was a Southern Section qualifying time.
In other Pacific Coast League swimming:
Orange 95, Trabuco Hills 51--Matt Maresh won the 200-yard individual medley (2:22.94 seconds) and 100 backstroke (1:01.52) for host Orange.
In Sea View League boys’ swimming:
Tustin 92, Estancia 64--Paul Barrera had Southern Section qualifying times in the 100-yard backstroke (57.91) and 100 butterfly (53.2) for host Tustin.
In Pacific Coast League girls’ swimming:
Woodbridge 117, Costa Mesa 28--Alex Royce had Southern Section qualifying times in the 100 butterfly (1:02.69) and 100 breaststroke (1:12.26) for Woodbridge at Heritage Park.
In Sea View League girls’ swimming:
Tustin 88, Estancia 68--Shannon Quinn had qualifying times in the 100 butterfly (1:02.4) and 100 backstroke (1:04.0) for host Tustin.
In Sea View League softball:
Newport Harbor 13, Corona del Mar 5--Malisa Miller had three RBIs for visiting Newport Harbor (2-3, 1-1).
Tustin 4, Estancia 2--Alliso Potenza and Kim Colena each had run-scoring doubles to break a 1-1 tie in the fourth inning for the Tillers (5-4, 2-0) at Tustin.
In nonleague softball:
Mater Dei 2, Mission Viejo 1--Julie Kline singled up the middle to score pinch-runner Terry Kobata with the winning run in the seventh for host Mater Dei (6-2-1). Jennifer Kline had a hit-and-run RBI double in the first for Mater Dei’s other run.
In Sea View League golf:
Estancia 196, Tustin 234--Mike Joyner shot par 37 to lead Estancia (6-0, 2-0) at Costa Mesa Country Club.
In nonleague golf:
El Dorado 200, Valencia 203--Shane Thompson shot a one-over 36 to lead El Dorado at Western Hills Country Club.
