Todd Lewis of Burbank High clocked 9 minutes, 26.33 seconds to win the invitational two-mile run at the Beverly Hills-UCLA Relays at Drake Stadium on Saturday.

Lewis, the Southern Section 3-A Division cross-country champion, took the lead for good after a slowish, 75-second first lap and covered the final 400 meters in 63 seconds.

“It was ridiculous,” the Bulldog senior said. “It was too slow. I had to take it out.”

After winning the 800 meters in 1:55.37 at the Pasadena Games last Saturday, Lewis ran back-to-back 4:43 miles to outlast Miraleste’s Gary Stolz, second in 9:36.78.
