The Preps : Softball Roundup : Garden Grove Wins, 34-0, at Rancho Alamitos

Garden Grove High School scored 15 runs in the first inning and defeated Rancho Alamitos, 34-0, Thursday in a Garden Grove League softball game at Rancho Alamitos.

The Argonauts (11-6 overall, 4-0 in league) had 49 runners on 18 hits, 15 walks, 14 errors and two hit batters. The game was called after five innings.

Celeste Gordon had two hits, including a two-run triple in the first inning, and pitched a one-hitter, striking out 12.

In other Garden Grove League games:

Kennedy 12, Los Amigos 2--Missi Gyve had three hits, including a two-run homer, for the Fighting Irish (9-3, 4-0) at Kennedy. Gyve also scored three runs.

La Quinta 7, Santiago 0--Jill Bishop (3-1) pitched a four-hitter, striking out eight for the Aztecs (10-4, 3-1) at La Quinta.

In the Olympic League:

Whittier Christian 5, Santa Margarita 3 (9 innings)--Brigette Wagner singled home two runs in the top of the ninth for Whittier Christian (3-1, 2-0) at Santa Margarita.

In nonleague games:

El Dorado 3, Sonora 1--Melissa Jantz had two hits and two RBIs for El Dorado (10-3) at Sonora.

Brea-Olinda 4, Glenn 3--Sherry Sulbright hit a bases-loaded triple in the bottom of the sixth to give Brea-Olinda (8-4) a 3-2 lead at Tamarack Park.

Fountain Valley 4, Lakewood 0--Shannon Dolan had two hits, including a two-run homer, for the Barons (11-2-1) at Fountain Valley.

Irvine 3-4, Foothill 0-0--Jennifer Brundagy pitched a no-hitter to win the first game for Irvine at Heritage Park.

Sunny Hills 2, Marina 1--Amy Hewitt drove in two runs with a double in the top of the sixth for the Lancers (10-4) at Marina.

Trabuco Hills 3, San Clemente 0--Marta Bickert (5-8) allowed one hit and struck out eight to lead Trabuco Hills (5-8) at home.
