In other South Coast League games:

Capistrano Valley 5, Irvine 3--Chris Lugo (5-1) pitched six innings for the victory for visiting Capistrano Valley. Mike Buster Nietzke had an RBI triple for Capistrano Valley in the sixth. Dan Zamora had two hits with an RBI and stole two bases also for Capistrano Valley. Irvine is 9-9, 4-4.

Dana Hills 6, San Clemente 4--Mike Robertson’s two-run single keyed a four-run fourth to give host Dana Hills a 4-1 lead. Jay Johnson hit a solo home run also for Dana Hills (7-11-1, 3-5). Rick Whipple (2-1) pitched the first 5 1/3 innings and Mark Kania got the final out for his second save.

In the Angelus League:

St. Paul 7, Servite 3--Ed Crippin had a double and a triple and two RBIs for visiting Servite (9-9-1, 2-5). St. Paul is 4-1 in league play.

In the Empire League:

Los Alamitos 8, El Dorado 7 (9 innings)--With the score tied, 7-7, and the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth, Doug Kieck hit a one-out single to give host Los Alamitos (11-8, 6-2) its sixth consecutive victory. Catcher Bruce Petillo hit two home runs for El Dorado (12-7, 4-4).

Loara 4, Esperanza 2--Joey Gaudio (2-1) pitched the first 4 2/3 innings for the victory, and Ken Williams worked the final 2 1/3 innings for his second save for host Loara (8-10, 5-3). Matt Drager hit a two-run home run in the first, Gaudio hit a sacrifice fly in the fifth and Rusty Tamblyn had an RBI single in the sixth for Loara. Esperanza is 7-7-1, 1-6-1.

Katella 12, Cypress 10--Ken Peters hit a grand slam in the second as visiting Katella scored 11 runs on nine hits. Jeff Evans had four hits for Katella (5-3 in league play).

Steve Sheets hit a grand slam for Cypress, which rallied for six runs in the fifth to cut the lead to 11-10. Kevin Smith and Mark Macalello had three hits and Macalello hit a three-run home run in the first for Cypress (2-5-1, 3-8-1). Cypress led, 4-0, after one inning.

In the Freeway League:

Sonora 4, Troy 3--Pinch-runner Dave Stack scored on a balk with two outs in the seventh as host Sonora upset first-place Troy. The count was three balls and no strikes to Robert Devlahovich, when relief pitcher Brad Zeppieri was called for the balk. Stuart Cochran (2-5) got the victory for Sonora (6-11, 2-6). Kevin Cook’s two-run single tied it, 3-3, in the fifth. Cook also had a sacrifice fly in the third for Sonora. Troy is 6-2 in league play and tied for first with Fullerton and Sunny Hills.

Sunny Hills 13, La Habra 5--Brent Smith had three hits, scored two runs, and had five RBIs for host Sunny Hills (12-7, 6-2). Jeff White had two hits, scored four runs and had two RBIs. Benny Rodriguez had three hits, and Ricky Orr had three hits and three RBIs for Sunny Hills. La Habra led, 5-2, going into the bottom of the fifth, but Sunny Hills scored six runs to take an 8-5 lead. Sunny Hills scored five more runs in the sixth.

In the Garden Grove League:

Kennedy 3, Rancho Alamitos 1--Steve Rath had two hits and stole home as part of a double steal in the fifth for host Kennedy (15-4, 6-1). Greg Hansell (7-1) pitched a two-hitter but walked six for Kennedy. He had eight strikeouts.

Bolsa Grande 7, Los Amigos 6--Visiting Bolsa Grande led, 6-0, after two innings and hung on. Rick Tantardini hit a two-run home run in the first inning for Bolsa Grande (9-8, 2-5).

Toby Ulemek (4-4) pitched seven innings for the victory. Matt McCready had two hits for Los Amigos (5-14, 2-5), which scored four runs in the seventh to make it close.

Pacifica 3, La Quinta 2 (12 innings)--Kevin Ashworth hit a two-out single, stole second, went to third on a wild pitch and scored on an error for visiting Pacifica (6-1 in league play).

Jason Parsons hit his sixth home run to give La Quinta (15-4-1, 5-2) a 2-1 lead in the fourth. Pacifica tied it on a sacrifice fly in the sixth.

Santiago 7, Garden Grove 3--David Smith had three hits and scored two runs for host Santiago (7-8-1, 4-3). Sean McCorry (4-3) pitched a five-hitter with six strikeouts for Santiago. He also had a two-run double and a sacrifice fly. Matt Hall hit a two-run home run in the first inning for Garden Grove.

In the Orange League:

Anaheim 7, Brea-Olinda 6--Dan Castro hit a two-run home run with two outs in the seventh for Anaheim (11-8, 7-1). Brea is 7-10, 3-5.

Valencia 10, Savanna 3--Rudy Lopez went three for three with a double, a home run, two RBIs, and two runs scored for Valencia (10-4, 5-3) at home. Savanna is 3-5 in league play.

Western 7, Magnolia 0--Robert Legendre (3-1) pitched a one-hit shutout with four strikeouts and two walks for Western (10-8, 5-3) at home. Magnolia is 1-7 in league play.
