Share

Burroughs High collected just four hits Friday against visiting Hart--but two of them figured prominently.

Tony MacCaughtry launched a two-run home run and Tommy Phillips added a solo blast to account for all of the Indians’ runs as Burroughs defeated Hart, 3-1, to create a first-place tie in the Foothill League. With six league games to play, Burroughs (12-8, 6-3 in league play) and Hart (15-4, 6-3) both hold a one-game lead over San Gabriel (5-4).

Senior right-hander Chris Westbury (6-2) yielded an unearned run in the first inning, then shackled Hart the rest of the way. Westbury scattered eight hits, struck out four and walked three.
