SDSU center Kevin Wells (6-5, 265) has agreed to a two-year free-agent contract with the Denver Broncos.
Wells, a graduate of Northglenn High in Colorado, will attend a three-day minicamp this weekend in Denver.
“Basically, it turned out better than if I had gotten drafted in the later rounds,” Wells said.
Texas running back Darron Norris, a graduate of El Camino High School, was selected in the ninth round of the NFL draft by the New England Patriots. Norris, who was the 240th pick overall, rushed for 2,079 yards and 13 touchdowns for Texas while sharing backfield duties with Eric Metcalf, a first-round pick of the Cleveland Browns.
Norris is third on two San Diego Section career lists with 3,339 yards rushing and 45 touchdowns.
Oregon safety Thom Kaumeyer, a graduate of San Dieguito High, was taken in the sixth round of the draft by the Rams.
