High School Volleyball Playoffs

Westchester d. Granada Hills, 15-8, 17-15, 15-11--Sam Goldman had 12 kills for the Highlanders in a losing cause at Westchester. Arvin Buenaventura added five aces for Granada Hills (12-4). Westchester will play Palisades in the 3-A semifinals.

Sylmar d. Franklin, 15-6, 15-10, 15-8--Bruce Sakamoto and Steve O’Connell each had 19 kills for Sylmar (13-4). Steve Sapera had 40 assists for the Spartans, who will play at Reseda in the semifinals.

Reseda d. Lincoln, 15-1, 15-6, 15-6--Coley Kyman led defending 3-A champion Reseda (14-2) into the semifinals with 23 kills.

Palisades d. El Camino Real--6-15, 15-6, 15-7, 15-8--Andy Conly had 22 kills and Mike Lemke 13 kills as El Camino Real (9-6) lost in the 3-A quarterfinals.

Taft d. University, 9-15, 12-15, 15-8, 15-12, 15-11--Scott Mehlman had 30 kills and Dave Saranow 25 to lead Taft (14-2).

Bell d. North Hollywood, 15-12, 15-12, 11-15, 15-4--The Huskies were eliminated from the City 3-A playoffs in a match at Bell.

SOUTHERN SECTION

Canyon d. Camarillo, 15-3, 15-3, 15-3--David Kellar and Jeff Rawlins each had five kills as Canyon advanced in the 2-A Division.
