One of the decade’s most innovative television series ends its five-year run Sunday as Sonny Crockett and Ricardo Tubbs shoot it out with drug lords for the last time.

“Miami Vice,” the show that made rock music a weekly staple, brought designer fashions and cool colors to television and launched Don Johnson to superstardom, bows out with a two-hour special Sunday at 9 p.m. on Channels 4, 36 and 39.

Once a ratings favorite, “Miami Vice” has fallen on hard times recently, pulling in only about half the audience it once did. Joining Johnson and Phillip Michael Thomas in the action-packed finale will be series regulars Edward James Olmos, Saundra Santiago, Olivia Brown and Michael Talbot.
