Propane from a leaking gas line burned at a Wilmington boat repair yard for three-quarters of an hour Saturday morning before it was extinguished by seven companies of Los Angeles city firefighters.
According to the Fire Department, the 8:11 a.m. blaze at 327 E. B St. ignited after the gas line, connected to five propane tanks, began to leak. The fire was extinguished by 35 firefighters led by Battalion Chief Lester Hawks. There were no injuries, but a nearby building sustained $5,000 in heat damage, the department said.
