Boy Run Over by Ice Cream Truck
An ice cream truck driver was arrested Saturday after a vehicle ran over a 3-year-old boy in San Diego and drove off, police said.
The boy, David Rogers, was listed in good condition at Children’s Hospital after suffering only minor injuries, said Sharon Ross, a hospital spokeswoman. The victim suffered a forehead cut that required stitches, said Ross, who added that the boy was to be kept overnight for observation.
Police identified the driver as Kahanh Bui, 28, of San Diego. He was arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run driving, a Police Department spokesman said. Police could not say definitively what company he worked for.
The incident occurred at 2:24 p.m. along Poppy Place in the City Heights area. The truck knocked the boy to the street, ran him over and drove away without stopping, police said.
Bui was arrested in San Diego several hours after the incident, police said.
