Two people were killed and at least one injured in separate traffic accidents that happened within two miles of each other on Roscoe Boulevard on Tuesday evening, the Los Angeles Police Department reported.

Steven Thomas, 28, of Canoga Park, died when the car he was driving flipped as it emerged from a driveway in the 20600 block of Roscoe Boulevard in Winnetka, Investigator Jon Herrington said. Thomas was thrown from the car and suffered massive head injuries, Herrington said. Herrington blamed the crash on a high-speed swerve.

A passenger, Mark O’Hara, 27, jumped from the car seconds before it flipped and escaped with a broken wrist, Herrington said.
