Howard Wright, a power forward from Stanford and Patrick Henry High School, said Thursday he plans to attend the Denver Nuggets rookie camp as a unsigned free agent.

Wright said he selected the Nuggets over about seven other teams that expressed an interest in him after he was not selected in the two-round National Basketball Assn. draft Tuesday.

“The Nuggets seemed the best opportunity for me because they are in need of power forwards,” Wright said.

Wright, 6-feet-8 and 235 pounds, averaged 14.5 points and 6.9 rebounds last season at Stanford. The Nuggets will hold their rookie camp July 21-24 at Regis College in Denver.

The agent for Mitch McMullen, a 6-10 center from San Diego State, said 11 of the 27 NBA teams have contacted him since the draft. Keith Glass said McMullen might attend more than one rookie camp before settling on a team.
