San Ysidro
San Diego police found a man dead in the parking lot of an apartment complex in San Ysidro Monday morning, authorities said.
The victim, who carried no identification, is believed to have died from a gunshot wound to the head, said Sgt. Frank Martinez. An autopsy is scheduled for today.
The man was found near a trash dumpster at the Park Haven apartments on Willow Road when police arrived about 5:45 a.m., Martinez said.
Residents had heard gunfire and notified police, said Irma Ybarra, manager of the complex. The man did not live in the complex, Ybarra said. Residents believed the man was dragged to the dumpster after having been shot elsewhere in the complex.
The dead man was described as Latino, 25 to 30 years old, about 130 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a red and black flannel shirt and gray jeans.
