THE SIDELINES : Boxer Accused of White Slavery
Graciano Rocchigiani, the International Boxing Federation super middleweight champion, has been arrested on suspicion of white slavery, procuring and extortion.
West Berlin police said today that the 25-year-old champion was arrested Monday night after a West Berlin woman filed a complaint against him.
He was arrested along with 25-year-old Adnan Karakul, a Turkish friend and a former boxer.
The woman, whom police did not name, alleged that Rocchigiani and Karakul forced her to engage in prostitution during a trip last month to Italy.
She also alleged that the two pressured her to continue as a prostitute later when she returned to West Berlin.
