3 Wounded as 2 Gunmen Raid Tujunga Card Game, Steal $800

A poker game in a Tujunga home was broken up when two gunmen rushed in and fired shots, injuring two players, then scooped $800 off the table, Los Angeles police reported Tuesday.

No arrests were made after the 8:30 p.m. Monday robbery in the 10200 block of Commerce Avenue, police said.

Lt. Bernard D. Conine said four men were playing poker at a table in the home when two gunmen entered at the same time from the back and front doors. They fired at least three shots and announced that it was a robbery.

Conine said Reynaldo Gallegos, 36, of Sunland was struck in the heel by a bullet while Jorge Frutos, 32, of Sunland was struck in the thigh. A third player, Javier Diaz, whose age and hometown were not available, was slightly injured when he jumped through an open window. The fourth player, who was not identified, ran from the home uninjured.

The two gunman took $800 in cash off the table and escaped.

Gallegos and Frutos were treated at Olive View Medical Center in Sylmar and released. Diaz was treated by paramedics at the scene for a cut shoulder.
