Jorg Muller of Switzerland broke loose on the final lap Sunday to win the Grand Prix des Ameriques, with Tour de France winner Greg LeMond finishing fourth.

Muller helped his PDM team leader, Sean Kelly, come from behind to rejoin the lead group, then broke away to finish the 224-kilometer race through the streets of Montreal in 6 hours 3 minutes 39 seconds.

Yvon Madiot of France, riding for Toshiba, was second, 58 seconds back. Another French rider, Charly Mottet of the RMO team, was third, followed by LeMond and Kelly, the World Cup points leader from Ireland.
