ON THE SIDELINES : Dravecky to Rejoin Giants’ Lineup
San Francisco Giants hurler Dave Dravecky will start Thursday afternoon’s game against the Cincinnati Reds in his first major league appearance since off-season cancer surgery, manager Roger Craig confirmed.
Dravecky, who permanently lost half of the deltoid muscle of his pitching arm in the surgery, has pitched three complete games in the minor leagues during his rehabilitation program, including a win last Friday at Phoenix of the Pacific Coast League.
“That will be good, working with five days’ rest,” said Dravecky. “I’m looking forward to it.”
