A 16-year-old Encanto boy died Wednesday after being shot in the head during a drive-by shooting.
Armando Bracamontes was rushed to Sharp Memorial Hospital shortly after 10 p.m. Tuesday after four males driving in the 6000 block of Wunderlin Avenue near 60th Street in Encanto shot at the boy and several of his friends, who were standing on the sidewalk, according to police.
Bracamontes lived just a few houses from the shooting, a police spokesman said.
David Sanchez, 21, of the 800 block of Merlin Drive in Encanto was shot in the left thigh and was in good condition Wednesday at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla.
The car in which the assailants were riding was recovered Wednesday a few miles west of the accident, police said.
Police said that they do not believe the two victims were gang members but that the incident might be gang-related.
