John Kasser was named athletic director at UC Santa Barbara, succeeding Stan Morrison, who resigned the position in April to become the basketball coach at San Jose State. Kasser, 51, previously served as athletic director at Cal State Long Beach and the University of Houston. He will assume his new job Sept. 1.
