A Baltimore businessman with intentions of bringing the NFL back announced he will purchase the MISL Baltimore Blast in an attempt to keep the team from folding and further tarnishing the city’s sports image.

Edwin Hale, 42, also announced that longtime associate and former Baltimore Colts linebacker Stan White would be the team’s next general manager, replacing Dan Counce, and that Coach Ken Cooper will be offered a new contract this weekend.

The Baltimore Evening Sun said it is believed Hale will be purchasing the team in a range somewhere between $700,000 and $900,000, less than the $1 million asking price. The Blast lost $1 million in both the 1986-87 and ‘88-89 seasons and Hale admitted Thursday the team had been an “absolute loser financially since its inception.”
