SOCCER
USD (9-2) defeated visiting UCSD, 1-0, in overtime Friday. Tom Crane scored the game-winner on a penalty kick 2 minutes 30 seconds into overtime.
The Sockers will play an exhibition game against San Diego State Sunday at 6 p.m. in Aztec Bowl. Proceeds will go toward the Aztec soccer program and the Kaz Deyna memorial fund. It will follow a 30-minute old-timer game featuring former Sockers Juli Veee, Volkmar Gross, and Jean Willrich.
RUNNING
Some 6,000 runners will take part in Sunday’s 10th Coronado Bridge 6.5-mile road race at 7:45 a.m. The race will start at Glorietta Bay and finish in Balboa Park.
TENNIS
Jose Luis Noriega of USD advanced to today’s quarterfinals of the Mariott Bay Point Men’s Collegiate Clay Court Championships in Panama City, Fla. No. 4 Noriega defeated Kent Setton of USC, 7-5, 6-3, in the second round and Jose Campos of South Florida, 6-2, 6-0, in the third.
WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL
SDSU defeated Texas, 15-7, 16-18, 15-6, 15-11 in Austin. SDSU’s Erin Tomblin led both teams in digs with 20 and had three aces.
Chapman defeated UC San Diego, 15-10, 15-5, 11-15, 15-8, at UCSD.
WATER POLO
Pepperdine defeated UC San Diego, 12-9, in overtime. Jason Vance scored three goals for UCSD (10-6). Pepperdine improved to 12-3.
