Oceanside 23, Escondido 7--Oceanside’s Terry Vaughn ran for more than 200 yards in the first quarter and finished with 305 yards in 24 carries, including touchdown runs of 98, on his first carry, 62 and five yards. Vaughn’s total is the fourth best in county history.

San Pasqual 35, San Marcos 0--Junior fullback Cullen Owen scored San Pasqual’s first three touchdowns on two-yard runs, giving him 10 touchdowns and 62 points for the year. He had 21 carries for 132 yards. No. 6 San Pasqual is 5-0, 1-0. San Marcos is 0-4, 0-2.

El Camino 23, Ramona 0--Brian Madlangdayan ran for 176 yards, including a 45-yard touchdown, on 17 carries to lead El Camino (4-1, 2-0). Ramona is 3-2 and 1-1.

Palomar

San Dieguito 20, Vista 6--Senior halfback Troy Anderson ran for 144 yards and two touchdowns in 16 carries for for San Dieguito (4-1, 1-1). Vista dropped to 1-4, 0-2.

Metro

Chula Vista 34, Castle Park 0--No. 2 Chula Vista (5-0, 2-0) won its 11th consecutive Metro Conference game behind the play of Steve Gomez (nine carries, 83 yards), Trennel Hicks (17 carries, 76 yards) and Derek Chapman (seven of 11 for 105 passing yards). Chula Vista, which entered as the No. 3 defense in the county, is yielding just 5.8 points per game after its second shutout. Castle Park (2-3, 0-2) committed five fumbles and had two passes intercepted.

Southwest 32, Bonita Vista 6--Defensive back Detrick Stanford had a 35-yard interception return, and linebacker Jermaine Brown had a 51-interception return for Southwest (3-2, 2-0). Junior Ochoa rushed 100 yards on 15 carries for Southwest. Bonita Vista dropped to 2-2-1, 1-1.

Sweetwater 35, Hilltop 12--Brothers Willie and Danny Branch gained 339 of the Red Devils’ 359 rushing yards. Willie scored on runs of 15 yards and a yard, and Danny scored on a 79-yard run and had one interception. Sweetwater (1-4, 1-1) had 404 offensive yards. Hilltop’s Jorge Munoz was 20 of 34 for 238 yards and two touchdowns for the Lancers (1-4, 1-1).

Montgomery 18, Mar Vista 12--Arturo Hernandez had seven carries for 81 yards and one touchdown for Montgomery (2-3, 1-1), and teammate Joe Davis had two receptions for 50 yards and one touchdown. Mar Vista dropped to 2-3, 0-2.

Nonleague

Mission Bay 29, St. Augustine 6--Pat Betancourt rushed 17 times for 100 yards and two touchdowns, passed for a two-point conversion and intercepted two passes for Mission Bay (4-1). Teammate Schearon Stewart had a 62-touchdown run to go with his 16 carries for 163 yards. Mission Bay’s defensive average of 5.2 points per game is best in the county. St. Augustine dropped to 3-2.

Patrick Henry 30, Hoover 0--David Gregory ran for two touchdowns and 144 yards in 13 carries for Henry (3-2). Gregory, who had 133 of his yards in the first half, scored on runs of 53 and 17 yards. Henry quarterback Luke Lowrey completed 10 of 15 passes for 148 yards with one interception. Henry held Hoover (2-3) to 55 total yards, and safety Brent Dulin had two interceptions.

Crawford 29, La Jolla 0--Phil Parker completed only four of 10 passes, but the Colts gained 108 yards and scored two touchdowns on those four completions. Vernon Shaver caught two of the passes, one for a touchdown, and gained 68 yards. Shaver also rushed for another touchdown and gained 46 yards on three rushing attempts. Crawford’s leading rusher was Peter Ervin, who gained 108 yards on 13 carries. Crawford is 4-1, La Jolla to 2-2-1.

USDHS 41, Serra 20--With three seconds remaining, Dean Dodd capped the victory for USDHS (4-1) when he intercepted a pass from Tom Cotner and took it 10 yards for a touchdown. Rod Alexander had four catches for 173 yards and rushed twice for 87 yards and one touchdown for Serra (2-3).

Clairemont 27, Christian 6--Antoine Henry scored all four Clairemont touchdowns, giving the Chieftains (1-3) their first victory. Henry had touchdown runs of four, 72, five and five yards. Christian dropped to 1-4.

Coronado 21, Marian 14--Coronado sophomore linebacker Matt Clark intercepted a pass and ran 94 yards for the winning touchdown with 18 seconds remaining. Marian, driving for what it hoped would be the winning score, had a first-and-goal at the four with 38 seconds left. Clark stepped in front of the Marian receiver, intercepted the pass at the six, got a crucial block from Jim Stark at Marian’s 40 and raced in for Coronado’s first victory in five games. Marian is 0-5.

Mt. Miguel 12, Valhalla 0--Corey White scored both touchdowns, the first on a six-yard run and the next on a 28-yard interception return. On offense, he gained 66 yards on 14 carries, and teammate Earl Byers carried 19 times for 151 yards. Both teams are 2-2-1.

Mira Mesa 30, Carlsbad 0--Mira Mesa (4-1) received rushing touchdowns from four different players--Robby Edwards (four yards), Don Elder (72), J.J. Rowlette (one) and Wayne Pittman (62)--and shut out Carlsbad (3-2) at Carlsbad.
