Gene Banks, a six-year veteran, and 7-foot-2 Martin Nessley have been waived by the Clippers, the National Basketball Assn. team announced Saturday.
Banks, a former second-round draft choice by the San Antonio Spurs in 1981, was cut a day after he had 13 points and four rebounds in 16 minutes of the exhibition finale Friday against the Golden State Warriors.
Nessley, like Banks a free agent and a graduate of Duke, played in 35 games with the Clippers in 1987-88 and was in the Continental Basketball Assn. last season.
The Clippers’ roster, not counting holdout center Benoit Benjamin or injured Danny Manning, is at 13, one over the limit.
