DANA POINT : Electrical Appliance Blamed in Home Fire
A malfunctioning electrical appliance caused a fire that did an estimated $25,000 damage in a Dana Point duplex, fire officials said Thursday.
Resident Barbara Hersh was not at home when the blaze broke out in her Avenida Las Palmas apartment. Neighbors noticed the smoke and helped control the fire with garden hoses while awaiting arrival of fire trucks.
Orange County and San Clemente firefighters knocked down the flames in five minutes and rescued Hersh’s two cats.
