Gapusan Helps Mission Viejo Down Irvine

Keith Gapusan caught two touchdown passes to lead Mission Viejo High School to a 38-6 victory over Irvine Friday at Mission Viejo.

Gapusan had six catches for 112 yards and quarterback Tim Snowden completed 15 of 20 passes for 193 yards and two touchdowns for the Mission Viejo (7-2 overall and 2-2 in league play).

Irvine (3-6, 1-3) was led by Chad Vickers, who rushed for 70 yards in 18 carries.

Mission Viejo, ranked sixth in Orange County, took a 7-0 lead when Snowden connected with Terry Kesner for a six-yard touchdown pass with 4 minutes 56 remaining in the first quarter.

Mission Viejo took a 14-0 lead when Mark Gaw scored on a three-yard touchdown run with 2:12 left in the first quarter.

The lead became 17-0 when Don Disbro kicked a 28-yard field goal with 8:52 left in the first half.

Gapusan caught a two-yard touchdown pass from Snowden with 1:52 left in the half to give Mission Viejo a 24-0 halftime lead.

Irvine scored when quarterback Deron McCoy hit Bobby Garcia for a 21-yard touchdown pass with 7:15 left in the third quarter.

Mission Viejo moved to a 31-6 lead when Ryan Darke scored on a three-yard run with 9:13 left in the game.
