Pizula Paces 40-0 Rout by Unbeaten Sunny Hills
Brian Pizula rushed for 146 yards and scored three touchdowns to lead Sunny Hills High School to a 40-0 victory over Sonora Friday in a Freeway League football game in front of 400 fans at La Habra High School.
Pizula, a senior, ran for scores of 10, 11 and 30 yards. His 10-yard score with 9:25 left in the first quarter were the only points Sunny Hills (9-0 overall and 4-0 in league) needed.
Sunny Hills had 396 yards in total offense. The Lancers had 341 yards and 19 of its 24 first downs rushing.
Mike Sullivan had 86 yards rushing. Sullivan also caught a 25-yard scoring pass from Hakeem McKenzie with 4:06 left in the first half to give Sunny Hills a 26-0 lead.
Sunny Hills recovered two fumbles, intercepted two passes and limited Sonora to 161 yards.
Sonora (2-7, 0-4) was led on offense by Armand Villagomez, who rushed for 65 yards in 11 carries.
