Whatever your favorite game or team, there’s an event of local interest included among this weekend’s sports television viewing choices.

USC can assure itself of a third consecutive trip to the Rose Bowl with a win or tie over Arizona at 12:30 p.m. on Channels 7, 3, 10 and 42. UCLA, whose season has been reduced to trying to avoid its worst record since 1971, hosts Oregon in a 3:30 p.m. Prime Ticket telecast.

Struggling is not a word owner Bruce McNall expected to hear attached to the Kings after spending $15 million to acquire Wayne Gretzky, but that’s the state of the team these days. Losers of four consecutive games and seven of their last nine, the Kings play host to the Montreal Canadiens tonight at 7:30 on Prime Ticket.

Both L.A. professional basketball teams are on the air this weekend. Channel 5 covers tonight’s Clippers-New York Knicks match-up at 7:30 and Prime Ticket has the Lakers-Dallas Mavericks contest Sunday at 7:30 p.m.

All three Southland professional football teams are on display Sunday. The Rams, mired in a four-game losing streak, meet the New York Giants at 1 p.m. on Channels 2 and 8. The San Diego Chargers provide the opposition as the suddenly resurgent Raiders seek to make Art Shell a winner for the fifth time in his six games as head coach, with ESPN and Channels 11 and 10 airing the game at 5 p.m.
