Santa Margarita Impressive in 42-7 Victory
Josh Ireland rushed for 183 yards and one touchdown in 15 carries to lead Santa Margarita High School to a 42-7 nonleague victory over Corona Centennial at Saddleback College Friday.
Santa Margarita improved to 7-3 overall and remained 4-2 in Olympic League play, good for third place.
Trevor Yankoff was five of seven passing for 90 yards and three touchdowns, and also ran 44 yards for a touchdown Yankoff had 80 yards rushing on five carries .
David Shearer had four catches for 80 yards and two touchdowns for Santa Margarita.
Santa Margarita had a 14-0 lead at halftime that was cut to 14-7 on Centennial’s first possession of the second half. But Santa Margarita responded with 28 points in the third quarter to pull away.
