HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP : Agoura Upsets Camarillo in Overtime, 71-64

Joe Marini of Agoura High sank two free throws with five seconds left in regulation to take Camarillo into overtime Wednesday night, and the Chargers went on to upset The Times’ fourth-ranked team in the Valley, 71-64, in a nonleague game.

The Chargers outscored the Scorpions, 10-3, in overtime. Agoura (1-1) was led by Sean Martin with 24 points. Marini finished with 12 points.

For Camarillo (1-1), David Harbour scored 23 points.

In other games:

Canoga Park 72, Monroe 69--Canoga Park center Shawn Lewis hit the front end of a one-and-one situation with 11 seconds left to seal a nonleague win at home.

Teammate Marcus Reed, a senior guard, scored a game-high 27 points and had nine steals for the Hunters (2-1). Lewis finished with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

For Monroe (0-2), Maurice McIntosh scored 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. The second win for Canoga Park under first-year Coach Jeff Davis equals last season’s victory total.

Birmingham 38, Chatsworth 34--Birmingham overcame a 21-13 halftime deficit in a nonleague game. Kevin Horton scored nine points for the Braves, and Delvon Hardaway led host Chatsworth (2-1) with eight points.

Oak Park 86, Westside Alternative 55--Josh Atkinson scored 26 points for Oak Park (3-0), which raced to a 27-7 first-quarter advantage over Westside (0-1). Oak Park’s Ben Feick and Shawn Carson tossed in 14 and 12 points, respectively, in a first-round game of the Faith Baptist tournament.

Lincoln 79, Sherman Oaks CES 68--Despite Cleve McWright’s 23 points and 19 rebounds, host Sherman Oaks CES lost its Northern Conference opener. Byron Devers chipped in with 18 points and 12 rebounds for Sherman Oaks CES (2-2, 0-1 in league play).

Holy Martyrs 69, Leffingwell Christian 62--Guard Apig Minassian scored 22 points and forward Armond Dorian added 17 points and seven rebounds to lead Holy Martyrs (2-0) to a nonleague win at home.

Eagle Rock 58, Marshall 44--Guards John Padilla and Ruben De Los Reyes combined for 30 points as Eagle Rock won its Northern Conference opener.

PROVIDENCE TOURNAMENT

Campbell Hall 58, Highland Hall 55--Jay Erikson made six of seven free throws in the final three minutes to protect Campbell Hall’s lead in the championship game.

La Salle 65, Valley Torah 53--La Salle’s Brian Esquival and Brian Butler each scored 16 points in the third-place game.

Providence 65, Cal Lutheran 57--Tim Edgar scored 15 points and Brett Ferante added 14 for Providence (3-1) in the consolation championship.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

San Fernando 37, Fairfax 27--Kristie Fluckers finished with 10 points and 14 rebounds for San Fernando (2-1).

Highland Hall 41, Southwestern 20--Highland Hall earned its first victory since 1986 to move into the consolation finals of the Buckley tournament.

St. Genevieve 47, Calabasas 28--Cathy Mueller contributed 19 points as St. Genevieve (1-1) held host Calabasas (1-1) to six, four and eight points, respectively, in the first three quarters.

Birmingham 37, Chatsworth 27--Guards Tracie Harris and Gayle Fischer scored 13 and 12 points for host Birmingham (2-1).

Chaminade 57, Marymount 52--Junior forwards Jane Kim and Pam Powers had 20 and 18 points for host Chaminade (2-0).

Taft 69, Poly 45--Colleen Pratt scored 28 points as host Taft improved to 3-0. Poly (0-3) trailed, 22-6, at the end of the first period.

L.A. Baptist 55, Notre Dame Academy 22--L.A. Baptist built a 19-4 first-quarter lead and cruised to a nonleague win at home.

Kristin Heerema nearly single-handedly outscored Notre Dame Academy (0-1) with 20 points.

Granada Hills 4, University 2--Heros Daniels and Dave Salita each scored two goals for host Granada Hills (1-1) in a nonleague match.

L.A. Baptist 2, Calabasas 1--Ron Simpson and Todd Cohen scored for L.A. Baptist (2-0).

Simi Valley 5, Muir 0--Junior Spencer Belideau scored two goals for the Pioneers (2-0) in a nonleague match at Muir.

Simi Valley’s Craig Hampton, a member of the U.S. National 20-and-under team, scored one goal and had three assists.
