COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Lamoureux Helps Cypress Get Past Glendale

Andre Lamoureux scored 21 points and had 14 rebounds to lead Cypress College to a 65-60 victory over Glendale Wednesday in the first round of the Golden West men’s basketball tournament.
Lamoureux, a sophomore forward for Los Alamitos High School, got a rebound, was fouled and made a free throw with 21 seconds left to give Cypress its five-point margin.
Eric Pauley, a freshman center, had 12 points, five blocks and eight assists for Cypress (7-0), and Vince Hizon and Grayle Humphrey scored 11 points each.
Humphrey, a sophomore guard, made all three of his shots from the field, all three pointers, including one with 1:34 left to give Cypress a 63-55 lead.
Glendale (4-5) scored the next five points, but Cypress’ Brian Kennedy made the front end of a one-and-one with 43 second left to give Cypress a 64-60 lead.
In nonconference men’s basketball:
Rancho Santiago 87, Pomona-Pitzer 42--Corie Blount scored 19 points to lead host Rancho Santiago (10-0), which had only seven turnovers. Matt Lien and Gene Altamirano had 12 points each for the Dons, who led at halftime, 47-28.
In the Pasadena women’s basketball tournament:
Orange Coast 77, College of the Desert 51--Kami Bigler scored 14 points and Jennifer Ambrose had 15 rebounds and 10 points for the Pirates (9-2) in a first-round game.
