HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP : Kennedy Falls to Narbonne in Overtime

Kennedy High’s Josh Etting made a three-point shot with six seconds left in regulation to tie the score, but Narbonne held Kennedy to one point in overtime and won, 76-70, in the third-place game of the Hamilton tournament.

Kennedy (3-5) took a 70-69 lead in overtime when Garret Anderson made one of two foul shots.

But Narbonne’s Gabe Macil countered with a three-point basket then added two free throws with 1:02 left.

Anderson had a game-high 30 points for Kennedy, including eight in the fourth quarter. Macil scored a team-high 22 points, 20 after intermission.

In another Hamilton tournament game:

Canoga Park 73, Venice 71--Marcus Reed scored a game-high 27 points, the final two on a 15-foot baseline jump shot that just beat the buzzer, as Canoga Park won the consolation championship.

Reed’s basket was the last of seven lead changes. Lindsay Dunbar added 25 points and 10 assists, and Shawn Lewis had 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Hunters (4-4), who have doubled their win total of last season.

THOUSAND OAKS TOURNAMENT

Thousand Oaks 70, Newbury Park 64--Chris Loll scored 22 points, Gal Hever had 16 and Dusty Lysobey added 14 for the Lancers in the game for third place. Loll was successful on five three-point attempts.

Newbury Park center Kevin Loveall scored a game-high 23 points and point guard Tim Lane had 17 points and five assists.

PAGE TOURNAMENT

Camarillo 63, McClintock 61--With his team trailing, 55-54, Rick Schnell hit a three-point shot with less than two minutes remaining then sank two free throws with 10 seconds left to seal the win in a semifinal game in Page, Ariz.

Schnell finished with 20 points and David Harbour scored 17 for Camarillo (3-1).

DOS PUEBLOS TOURNAMENT

Simi Valley 84, Carpinteria 54--Kenny Hood scored 22 points and Steve Carnes added 20 as the Pioneers (4-3) took a 16-point halftime lead and won easily in a consolation game.

Channel Islands 71, Westminster 56--Kenji Kato scored 17 points and Shawn Young added 16 as the Raiders broke open what had been a two-point game at halftime.

The win puts Channel Islands (5-2) into today’s fifth-place game against Crenshaw.

FILLMORE TOURNAMENT

L. A. Baptist 54, Buckley 45--Glen Dodson scored 18 points, Alex Pistone added 11 and the Knights (1-4) made 18 of 23 free throws in the consolation game.

Moorpark 72, Santa Paula 45--Sophomore forward Jodle Kitt scored nine of his game-high 17 points in the first quarter as the Musketeers raced to a 23-3 lead in a consolation semifinal game.

PARKER TOURNAMENT

Providence 56, Mary Star 55--Center Chris Jones sank a short jump shot with three seconds left to clinch the win. Freshman guard Mike Yagligan scored 18 points, all on three-point baskets, and Tim Edgar scored 13 for Providence (4-3) in a second-round game.

ROSAMOND TOURNAMENT

Paraclete 59, Mohave 55--Shawn Pereasmeyer scored 13 points, grabbed 17 rebounds and blocked six shots for Paraclete (4-3) in a semifinal consolation game.

CAMPBELL HALL TOURNAMENT

Campbell Hall 68, South Bay Lutheran 42--Campbell Hall held South Bay Lutheran to eight points in the first half and Phil Bruno scored 24 points as the Vikings (6-1) won a semifinal game.

NONLEAGUE

Crescenta Valley 67, Burbank 57--Senior center Paul Matijasevic scored 20 points and pulled down 19 rebounds as the Falcons went out to a 38-15 halftime lead and coasted at Crescenta Valley.

Montclair Prep 67, Oakwood 52--Jason Gerber led the Mounties with seven points, seven steals, seven assists and 12 rebounds.

Valley Alternative 63, Marlton 26--Charles Pickett scored 20 points and had 10 rebounds, and Tyrone Clark added 14 points for Valley Alternative (1-1).

Bel-Air 53, Village Christian 49--Rod Anderson scored 14 points and David Orso had 13, but it wasn’t enough for the Crusaders (4-4).

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Simi Valley 60, Saugus 20--Christina Ruiz scored 14 points and Lori Church had 11 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Pioneers, who jumped to a 22-1 lead after a quarter.

Oakwood 28, Montclair Prep 12--Oakwood (5-1) outscored the Mounties, 16-3, in the first-half and cruised to a nonleague win at Montclair Prep.

Valley Alternative 16, Midcity 6--Valley Alternative, a first-year program, won its first game by holding Midcity to two-of-25 shooting in a Magnet League opener at Lincoln Park.

Village Christian 53, Crescenta Valley 28--Janet Kovar had 22 points and seven rebounds to lead Village Christian.

BOYS’ SOCCER

Notre Dame 1, St. John Bosco 0--Chris Afarian scored the only goal of the match in the 21st minute and goalkeeper Chris Feezor recorded his fourth shutout for visiting Notre Dame (4-4-1).

Channel Islands 2, Ventura 1--Raider goalkeeper Rosario Pina blocked a penalty shot with eight minutes remaining at Ventura to preserve the nonleague win.

Oakwood 1, Flintridge Prep 1--Brett Feinstein scored a goal with 30 seconds to play to give Oakwood the tie in the nonleague match at Flintridge Prep.

Notre Dame 3, Saugus 0--Karen Ljubetic, Andrea Ashkar and Shannon Tuttle each scored a goal to lead the Knights (5-3) in a nonleague match at Notre Dame.
