THE SIDELINES : Person Sidelined by Eye Injury
Indiana Pacers starting forward Chuck Person is recovering from a scratched cornea and is not expected to play for at least two games, Pacers officials said today.
The 6-foot, 8-inch, 225-pound Alabama native suffered the injury to his right eye Saturday while diving for a loose ball in Seattle.
He was examined and treated by the Sonics’ team doctor and, when the team returned to Indianapolis Saturday, Person was re-examined and ordered to spend five days in bed.
“He will not play tonight or tomorrow night,” Tim Edwards, Pacers media relations assistant, said today. Beyond that, “we don’t know yet,” Edwards said.
