Humphrey Won’t Let Injury Keep Him Out of Super Bowl
Denver Broncos rookie running back Bobby Humphrey expects to put in a full afternoon Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl XXIV--cracked ribs notwithstanding.
“That’s what I’m saying,” Humphrey said Monday during a news conference conducted in a tent outside the team’s hotel headquarters. “I don’t know about starting, but I definitely will play.
“And I’m going to be the same Bobby Humphrey. Same guy who’s been running over people, making the cuts, catching the ball out of the backfield and making the extra two yards. That’s going to be me come Sunday.”
Humphrey, the first Broncos rookie and the fourth player in team history to rush for 1,000 yards (1,151), suffered two cracked ribs during the AFC championship game Jan. 14.
