Four Antelope Valley High boys’ basketball players were found guilty in juvenile court Thursday of misdemeanor assault after an on-campus incident Dec. 14 in which they demanded money from four fellow students.

The four players, all varsity reserves, will be sentenced Feb. 28 in Lancaster Juvenile Court.

The players were arrested on suspicion of attempted armed robbery after one of the victims claimed that a gun was pointed at his head. Juvenile Court Commissioner Victor Reichman, however, ruled that prosecutors had not proved that a gun had been used.

The four players, who have been suspended from the team, surrounded a car containing four male students in the campus parking lot.

The players, who were wearing their practice uniforms, were recognized by one of the victims.

The incident was reported to school administrators.

Antelope Valley is 17-3, 5-0 in the Golden League.
