ROUNDUP : Kriech Scores 20 as Trabuco Hills Defeats Orange

Randy Kriech scored 20 points to lead Trabuco Hills High School to an 89-76 victory over Orange in a Pacific Coast League boys’ basketball game Thursday at Orange.

Tim Manning added 15 and Beau Hossler 14 for first-place Trabuco Hills (12-8 overall and 6-0 in league play).

Carlos Duran scored 26 points and had nine assists for Orange (8-11, 2-4).

Trabuco Hills led, 40-35, at the half and outscored Orange, 24-16, in the third quarter.

In Garden Grove League girls’ soccer:

La Quinta 4, Garden Grove 0--La Quinta (11-3, 6-0) had its sixth consecutive league shutout. Nicole Eisley had two goals to lead La Quinta and Cheryl Jones and Stefani Stucker each added a goal. Valerie Luna had 13 saves for Garden Grove. La Quinta outshot Garden Grove, 33-1.

Kennedy 5, Rancho Alamitos 0--Krista Darin, Angie Lacarte, Tracy Van Herk, Lori Van Herk and Stacy Darin scored for visiting Kennedy (12-4, 5-1).

In the Orange League:

Anaheim 3, Savanna 0--Suzy Meehan, April Garcia and Jenny Koebli scored for host Anaheim (10-5-3, 3-2). Jennifer Brunner had seven saves and Kimberly Wier had nine saves for Savanna. Kelly Wooliever had eight saves for Anaheim. Savanna is 0-5 in league play.

In the Pacific Coast League:

Trabuco Hills 2, Orange 1--Linda Lunceford and Blinn Robison scored for host Trabuco Hills (14-4-1, 4-0-1). Angela Parraugh scored on a penalty kick for Orange (1-3-1).

Laguna Hills 4, Laguna Beach 1--Suzy Kim, Kelly Traxell, Julie DeCastro and Claudia Smedes scored for visiting Laguna Hills (10-9-2, 3-2). Sara Nelson scored for Laguna Beach (2-11, 0-5).

In the Sea View League:

Corona del Mar 2, Newport Harbor 2--Erin Williams scored for Newport Harbor (4-7-3, 1-2-3) in the first half and Julie Thomas scored in the second half. Lisa Bernhard had 14 saves for Newport Harbor.

Estancia 9, Saddleback 0--Shannon Hale, Kim Newland, Danielle Straub and Ann Walker scored two goals each for Estancia (2-3-1 in league play) at home. Amy Watson scored the other goal for Estancia.

In the Sunset League:

Edison 0, Fountain Valley 0--Nikki Turner had three saves for host Edison (12-3-5, 6-0-1). .

Marina 2, Huntington Beach 0--Ana Wiederrich scored both goals for visiting Marina (9-7-1, 4-3-0). Marina goalie Cristin Rossman had seven saves for her seventh shutout this season.

In the South Coast League:

Irvine 6, San Clemente 1--Heather Gilchrist and Keri Johnson scored two goals each as Irvine won for the first time in league play. Andrea Caminiti and Niki Kennedy had one goal each for Irvine (5-10, 1-5).

In Angelus League boys’ soccer:

Mater Dei 3, St, Paul 2--Luis Cavallis scored in the second half to break a 2-2 tie for host Mater Dei (12-6-3, 3-0-2). Brian Alvarez and Rich Mills scored in the first half for Mater Dei.

In Garden Grove League field hockey:

Santiago 5, La Quinta 0--Espy Monroy had three goals to lead host Santiago, which gained its 17th shutout of the season. Diana Gomez and Leanne Stoneking also scored for Santiago (18-2-1, 5-0-1). Santiago goalie Nellie Silveira had one save and Julie Laurel had three for La Quinta (9-10-2, 3-3).

Santa Ana Valley 4, University 1--Martha Ramirez, Joanne Thomas, Mari De La Riva and Maribel Serna scored for Santa Ana Valley (11-5-2, 5-1-1). Rupal Vashi scored for University.
