These 49ers Didn’t Make Super Choices

Events of the past few weeks cause one to look twice at the intended direction of the football program at Cal State Long Beach.

First the administration hires a man (George Allen) 30 years removed from the college scene, who spent most of his career in the brutally businesslike world of the NFL. Then a coach like Harvey Hyde is injected into the mix in the position of heir apparent. Is this not the same coach whose Pasadena City College program came under fire for academic and disciplinary transgressions? And is this not the same coach whose program at UNLV, that bastion of athletic integrity, could no longer stomach him and pushed him out the door with claims that it had to clean up the mess?
