COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Chapman Shut Out by Arizona State, 4-0

Arizona State defeated Chapman College, 4-0, Monday in a nonconference baseball game in Tempe.
Sean Rees (3-0) struck out 13 for Arizona State (9-2), the fifth-ranked Division I team in the nation.
Chapman loaded the bases in the first inning, but couldn’t score. Arizona State scored two runs in the third on two stolen bases, a walk, a wild pitch and a fielder’s choice.
Arizona State added single runs in the seventh and eighth innings. Jamie Cass (1-1) pitched seven innings for Chapman (3-2).
In a Big West Conference women’s basketball game:
UC Santa Barbara 76, UC Irvine 50--Santa Barbara forward Coryna Truitt scored 18 points and guard Barbara Beainy scored 16 to lead Santa Barbara (10-10 overall and 5-6 in conference) at Irvine.
